A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Wow! - it's taken me a while but I'm finally free to start my journey and begin working on my own projects. I am so excited my head is spinning. I thought I would take a moment and post my first blog post here in the group giving a brief snap shot of my basic plan and then as I work on each thing I will post more about that part. This blog and all of you will be my Accountability Buddies :D

I have had a number of small personal projects (little web tools and local venues) that I have wanted to do for a LONG time (years) but I couldn't figure how they could pay for themselves much less earn me some money. I mean I knew I could throw in some affiliate links and possibly write some articles for a little adsense revenue but the odds of that bringing in enough to even pay for hosting space and bandwidth was small.

Then I was lucky enough to catch Eben Pagan's free videos on creating Information Products at the same time that I downloaded and read the TeachingSells.com report and a picture formed in my mind of how I could do these projects I have wanted to do and make some money at the same time.

I plan to start with one web tool and one local venue. The tool is a Domain Name Brainstorming Tool ( thinking of great domain names is getting harder and harder as so many have been taken). That site will be http://www.DomainNameStormer.com

And my local venue site is http://www.ChildcareMissouri.com a website devoted to Parents and Providers in Missouri. I want to create a place where parents can find all kinds of local providers as well as good information and I also want to support local family friendly businesses by providing a venue where they can promote their services online to local families - hopefully it will help everyone. I've got quite a lot of work to do to get it online in May - what I am hoping for is to get the basic site up and then start adding features bit by bit. My main idea behind the ChildcareMissouri site is expressed by that Peter, Paul & Mary song, "Every flower's reachin' for the sun"

So here is the basic plan, I will get these two sites going and incorporate some little surveys to find out the kinds of things the small business people who go there are wanting to learn, what they wish they could get up to speed on asap

Then I will make a free ebook that will be helpful to them. I won't require their email address to get it because i want to establish myself in their minds as a resource of quality helpful information

By that time I should have at least a little info back from my surveys and I will create a multi-part free email mini-course in exchange for them signing up to my list.

I will continue finding out about their needs, do some free videos just for members of the list and get feedback from those

Next I will create a real course on a topic that most of them are eager for and sell on CD and online Subscription.

I will add more courses, ebooks, etc. doing everything I can to help people get the information they want and start again gathering more interested people by creating other small web tools and local venue sites

So that's the general road map, When I get some funds I plan to sign up for TeachingSells.com for at least 3 months and learn all I can from them.

would love to hear your thoughts,

thanks, Megan
